Keanu Reeves falls victim to burglary again, firearm stolen
John Wick actor Keanu Reeves’ Hollywood home endured another break-in on Wednesday evening, following several similar incidents a few years ago and earlier this year.
According to reports, several ski-masked individuals forced entry into the actor’s $7 million mansion and made off with a firearm. Surveillance footage captured the incident, which occurred just hours after an anonymous tip had alerted authorities to a potential trespasser on the grounds.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a call regarding a trespasser on Reeves’ property at around 7 PM. Officers arrived and searched but found nothing suspicious. However, they received a second call around 1 AM on Thursday after the masked burglars had broken into the actor’s home and set off the alarm.
Fans were relieved to hear Reeves was unharmed as he was away during the burglary. It is still unclear if additional items were stolen besides the firearm.
The investigation into the burglary is still ongoing, with detectives scrutinising every security camera angle to identify the perpetrators and reconstruct the events.
In particular, the LAPD is examining the nature of the first call to police. Detectives are exploring the possibility that this call was a calculated move by the burglars to scope the scene and police response time before the actual break-in.
Previous security incidents involving Reeves
This isn’t the first time the former Matrix star has faced home intruders, robbers, or stalkers. In 2014, two separate women broke into his home.
During the first incident in 2014, an unidentified woman in her mid-40s gained entry to his house while he slept. She then promptly took a nap in his library chair. Upon waking, Reeves engaged the woman in conversation before calling the police. She reportedly claimed to be there to meet him.
Just a day later, another woman reportedly entered his home through an unlocked door. According to TMZ, she proceeded to strip naked, take a shower, and then go for a dip in his pool. The cleaning crew then alerted the police upon finding the woman.
In February 2023, Reeves and his partner, Alexandra Grant, were granted a restraining order against a 38-year-old alleged stalker from the Los Angeles Superior Court. Reeves filed the petition after the man had reportedly trespassed on the actor’s property numerous times.
Between November 5 and January 20, Bryan Keith Dixon allegedly trespassed on the actor’s $5.6 million Hollywood Hills property six times. Court documents indicate that during each instance, Dixon tried to establish contact with the actor. Dixon also shared several bizarre posts on social media, claiming to be the actor’s blood relative.
The situation escalated further, forcing Reeves to hire a private security team to investigate the alleged intruder.
Enhancing your home security
The repeated incidents are a stark reminder of the heightened security risks faced by celebrities and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). While these individuals enjoy the benefits of fame and fortune, they also become vulnerable to intrusions on their privacy and even physical harm.
This is why working with reputable security companies like Marengo is paramount in fortifying your home security. Security companies can offer various security services, including security assessment of your property, installing the right tools and deploying security guards.
Beyond these strategies, employing close protection officers (CPOs) can significantly enhance personal safety and peace of mind during various activities. These CPOs can guard both you and your beloved members from any potential threats, including robbers and stalkers.
