Jorgie Porter shares ‘terrifying’ experience of attempted burglary in her home

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has shared details of an attempted break-in at her home in an allegedly “planned” robbery.
On Thursday, the 35-year-old actress expressed her fear and anger to her followers through her Instagram Stories. She also shared CCTV footage of the individuals involved in the incident, mentioning there were two or three men.
She claimed the culprits had climbed her house’s fence, cut cables, tampered with her alarm, and disrupted the surrounding area’s Wi-Fi before the alleged break-in.
“I’m really upset and really scared and angry that our house was almost robbed last night. People tried to get in,” she said.
“It’s really scary. I want to say thank you to the police for turning up really quickly last night – and how many there were. It actually made us feel a little bit safe.”
Porter, her son, and her fiancé, 35-year-old businessman Ollie Piotrowski, were on a family trip to Spain when the incident took place. They discovered the attempted burglary upon their return to the UK.
Per the police’s recommendation, Porter uploaded the CCTV footage to assist in locating the suspects. In the video captured outside her property, the men can be observed hastily leaving the scene after appearing spooked by something.
Burglars attacking Cheshire residences
Porter lives in a spacious Cheshire residence with her fiancé and son. They bought the property in July 2021 and frequently share glimpses of their home’s inside on Instagram.
She is one of many celebrities and high-net-worth individuals who live in Cheshire, some of whom include Coleen and Wayne Rooney, Real Housewives of Cheshire star Stacey Forsey, TV star Paddy McGuinness, and Slade rock icon Noddy Holder.
According to CrimeRate, Cheshire is one of the safest counties in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with an overall crime rate of 71 crimes per 1,000 people in 2022.
Plumplot’s survey found that burglaries account for 3.3 percent of all crimes reported in the county, with 2,800 reported between September 2022 and August 2023. This number is 0.6 percent lower compared to the previous year.
Despite its relatively low crime rate, Cheshire is still a target for criminals. A £1.5 million home in Cheshire’s “footballer belt” was burgled last week, with one of the suspects having committed another burglary at a £3 million property in nearby Hale Barns just five days earlier.
Last year, a band of burglars broke into the £3.5 million Cheshire mansion of Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards and footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The couple and their baby son were home at the time, leading to fear and heartbreak due to the theft of valuable items, including jewellery and designer handbags.
A few months later, in December 2022, footballer Raheem Sterling’s home was burgled in December 2022 while he was in Qatar with the England squad for the World Cup. Armed robbers broke into the residence and stole around £300,000 worth of watches and jewellery. Sterling had to fly home to be with his family and missed England’s 3-0 win over Senegal.
Safeguarding high-value residents
Cheshire Constabulary shared some tips to prevent residential burglary in the area.
Burglars often look for homes with windows or doors left open or vulnerable features they can exploit. Whenever you leave the house, double-lock all entries. Investing in modern multi-locking and uPVC doors can give extra protection compared to traditional locks.
They also often target homes with visible vehicles, motorcycles, or bicycles that they can steal. To prevent this, keep your vehicles and keys safe and locked.
Remember to install a home security system, such as CCTV cameras or intruder alarms. Data show that homes without security systems are three times more likely to be burgled.
